Sami Karadeniz
I am a researcher from Finland. I’m a licensed psychologist, but I also have a BSc in Electrical Engineering and I’m currently doing my second Master’s in Business (People management & organizational development). In my day job, I study organizational psychology and culture in the context of high-hazard industries.
Research interests
I’m interested in all levels of the paradigmatic changes needed in responding to the Metacrisis, but my main research interest lies in the sociocultural aspects.
Research questions
- What are the theories of change when it comes to cultural evolution?
- We know about the mechanisms behind spreading of norms, but what determines which behaviours get adopted at a large scale?
- What can be done to facilitate the shift toward becoming a more united planetary civilization, capable of co-operation at the global scale to enable a sustainable lifestyle?

Public material of interest
The works that have most influenced my thinking lately are the following:
- The Listening Society by Hanzi Freinacht (book on metamodernism)
- Talks and writings of Daniel Schmachtenberger (on existential risk, the metacrisis and its root causes)
- The Great Simplification podcast and other material by Nate Hagens (podcast, videos) (especially the concept of ’energy blindness’)
- The End of the World Is Just the Beginning: Mapping the Collapse of Globalization by Peter Zeihan (book on geopolitics and globalization)
Owned commentary
Around and after my PhD I was studying and writing about human tasks, and errors, in complex systems. Others in particular were looking at the work of Geert Hofstede which I still find a useful reference point. Asimong (talk) 05:52, 23 July 2024 (UTC) Simon Grant
